A Southern elephant seal that's popped up in two coastal Cape Town suburbs has taken social media by storm.
Capetonians are eagerly following the adventures of 'Gordy', so named because it's in Gordon's Bay that he first appeared this past Tuesday.
Now he's been spotted surveying the scene in Simon's Town after surfacing from the waters near the naval base there a few days later.
In their last update, the local SPCA said he was resting in a safe location where he cannot access any roads, and was being monitored.
Gordy's first land outing in Gordon's Bay led to a nine-hour rescue operation to return the creature to the ocean.
This involved multiple agencies, a concerned community 'and a very big seal', quipped the Cape of Good Hope SPCA.
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment also posted a video update of Gordy in Simon's Town on Facebook, following an earlier clip of the Gordon's Bay rescue.
In the meanwhile, the security service Fidelity ADT has joined the Gordy fan club with a meme that's gone viral on the Internet.
The image features security officers keeping watch near the seal, with the caption 'Keeping you safe on SA’s wild streets'.
SJC Security Services also got in on the action with its own Gordy spoof.
Where is it all going to end, we ask?!
