Ormonde building collapse: City of Joburg says construction company nowhere to be found

The City of Johannesburg says the construction company overseeing the building of a property that has collapsed in Ormonde is nowhere to be found. 

At least six people have died after part of the building under construction gave way, trapping workers beneath the rubble. 

Six others have been rushed to hospital, while search and rescue teams continue working to free those believed to be trapped.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Johannesburg City manager Floyd Brink said authorities are struggling to locate the construction company. 

"We managed to get the name of the contactor , but they are AWOL at this point and we cannot get ahold of them. Our teams are now starting to trace them."
