There is good news for those who may have struggled to log into the SARS online system on Monday.
The revenue service is extending the deadline for e-filing and payment to Monday, 14 July 2025.
It's after taxpayers were left frustrated at the start of the week when they were unable to log onto eFiling or the MobiApp to confirm or settle their assessments.
Tax practitioners were also unable to process income tax filings and EMP201 declarations.
"You know what happens on the first day of filing season? People sit there with their fingers ready, so the minute the lines open, there's a rush to check, 'Am I being auto-assessed? Am I getting a refund?'"
- Edward Kieswetter, Commissioner - SARS
Kieswetter says SARS received 1.8 million logins, a record for a single day.
"And that had the unfortunate effect of slowing down [the system]."

As a result of Monday's system problems, Kieswetter says those employers who experienced delays in submitting their monthly EMP201s will not be penalised.
"To accommodate taxpayers for that, we have given a relief from penalty interest up until tomorrow (Friday)."
