JOHANNESBURG - A polar blast could affect Monday’s commute, with snow, rain and icy winds set to sweep across South Africa.
The cut-off low system is expected to first hit Cape Town on Saturday, bringing near-gale force winds and cold rain.
By Monday, the icy weather is expected to move to Gauteng, with temperatures set to drop and a possibility of light snow over high-lying areas.
The weather service is urging commuters and travellers to be cautious, as mountain passes may be closed and conditions could change fast.
Forecaster, Lehlohonolo Thobela, said, “And our weather for tomorrow, cold front makes landfall on the Western Cape, which will result in cloudy conditions, cold temperatures, isolated to scattered thunder showers, but they’ll be widespread along the West Coast into the interior of the Western Cape.”
