JOHANNESBURG - Deputy president Paul Mashatile admitted that significant effort was needed to implement the work of the truth and reconciliation commission.
Mashatile delivered the Human Rights Day address in Kariega in the Eastern Cape.
During his address he highlighted the 30th anniversary of the TRC.
The commission was set up by the first government of national unity in 1995 to address apartheid crimes.
Mashatile said restorative justice which was the core of the TRC is a continuous process.
"The TRC has been hailed for its innovative approach to holding those responsible for human rights violations accountable and fostering reconciliation among all South Africans, a model that has been adopted by many countries post-conflict," said Mashatile.
