Supporters of an 11-year-old girl rape victim lash out at suspect

JOHANNESBURG - The supporters of an 11-year-old girl who a family friend raped have lashed out at the suspect after he also impregnated the young girl.

The 28-year-old man is expected to continue his quest for bail in the Boksburg Magistrates Court.

He allegedly repeatedly raped the minor since she was six until she fell pregnant in December last year, leading to his arrest.

The small group was stationed out of the lower court all day in anticipation of his appearance and have lamented the suspect for taking advantage of the young girl, who would sometimes be left in his care.

One community member made a desperate plea outside court.

"Please guys, don’t rape our kids. We don’t want to be raped. We have a lot of pain. How can you rape a young girl who is your child? Is it fair? Now I’m talking on behalf of all women. How can you rape a child? Is it fair? No! We must give these kids education. We must guide them the right way, not to rape them."
