TRC inquiry to hear testimony from commissioner of original commission

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) cases inquiry will hear testimony from one of the commissioners of the original TRC on Tuesday.

The inquiry has started hearing testimony about allegations of political interference in the investigations of apartheid era crimes.

The commission is also investigating allegations of deliberate efforts to stop the prosecution of those crimes.

When the TRC handed over its final report to President Thabo Mbeki in 2003, it was the work of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to prosecute those who were denied amnesty.
