Tyla continues to fly South Africa's flag HIGH and retain her Afrobeats queen title as she makes MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) history.

The Grammy winner took home the 'Best Afrobeats' award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, marking her second consecutive win in the category.

Dazzling on the red carpet in a vintage ’90s Chanel dress and Pandora jewels, Tyla made a statement at the UBS Arena in New York.

Her hit single ‘Push 2 Start’ earned her this year’s Moonman, following her groundbreaking win in 2024 for the viral track ‘Water’.

Tyla triumphed over heavyweights in the genre, including Tems, Burna Boy, Rema, and Wizkid.

Tyla now becomes the most awarded African artist in VMA history, according to reports.

In an interview at the event, Tyla told reporters: "The category was very tough, shoutout to all the nominees. It's a blessing to be here and to win another award."

Tyla also gave a shoutout to her team and told fans her new album is "coming in hot."
