African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) member Zizi Kodwa said he is ready to prove his innocence as the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) seeks to reinstate fraud charges against him.

On Monday, the NPA confirmed it will seek to reinstate the charges against the former Sports Minister.

The charges, which were dropped in November 2024, relate to the alleged irregular awarding of government contracts to technology company EOH.

Kodwa last appeared at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court in November 2024, when the charges against him were formally withdrawn.

At the time, the NPA alleged that while serving as the ANC's national spokesperson, Kodwa received bribes of nearly R1.7 million from his co-accused, Jehan Mackay.

In October that year, Kodwa submitted representations to have the charges dropped, a request that was accepted by the Director of Public Prosecutions in Gauteng.

On Monday, Kodwa, through his lawyer, Zola Majavu, said: "Bring it on. If they wanna go that way, my client is not above the law. We will meet them in court."

The NPA maintains it will approach the courts to have the graft charges reinstated.
