Matric class of 2023 records an 82.9% pass rate, SA's best ever

JOHANNESBURG - The matric class of 2023 recorded the highest pass rate in South Africa’s history with 82.9%, an overall increase of 2.8% from 2022’s results.
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga made the announcement at the official release of the 2023 national senior certificate results at a briefing in Randburg on Thursday evening.
Motshekga said that the class of 2023 had done the country proud.
"The class of 2023 showed the greatest determination, fortitude, and resolve to overcome all odds, similarly to the class of 2022."
The #2023MatricClass recorded the highest pass rate since SA's democracy with 82.9% - an overall increase of 2.8% from last year’s results.
