JOHANNESBURG - Embattled economist Thabi Leoka has now resigned as a non-executive director of MTN with immediate effect.
Earlier on Monday, she resigned from her positions as a non-executive director and board member at Anglo American Platinum.
Both companies have confirmed her resignation, with both saying she wanted to attend to questions regarding her academic qualifications and her health.
Leoka came under fire recently after her PhD in Economic History came into question following claims she obtained the qualification at the London School of Economics.
While Leoka maintains she does have a PhD, public records have only shown that she was awarded a master's degree in 2004.
