Security guard shot and killed at taxi rank in Umlazi

DURBAN - A security guard has been shot and killed at a taxi rank near the Kwamnyandu Mall in Umlazi, south of Durban.

Two security officers were shot by unknown gunmen and one of them succumbed to his injuries.

ALS paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, said the deceased sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

“On arrival, paramedics found that security officers had been shot multiple times. Unfortunately, one security officer, believed to be approximately 30 years of age, had sustained multiple fatal gunshot wounds and there was nothing more paramedics could do for him.”

The other security guard was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

The motive for the shooting is not yet known.
