Mining, chemicals and agricultural group, Omnia Holdings reported strong half-year results for the six months ended 30 September 2025.

Revenue rose to R11.2 billion, operating profit climbed 12% to R900 million, and headline earnings were up 11%, driven by solid growth in mining and agriculture.

The mining division recorded robust growth, supported by higher volumes across its portfolio and improved cost efficiencies.

The agriculture segment also delivered a resilient performance, offsetting the effects of adverse weather in some international markets, currency volatility, and global trade uncertainty. In South Africa, strong sales volumes, driven by favourable growing conditions and supportive pricing, along with a recovery in the rest of Africa, lifted overall results.

Speaking to Stephen Grootes on The Money Show, Omnia CEO Seelan Gobalsamy says mining activity has strengthened, and there's a firm demand for fertilizer and other agricultural technologies.

"A big driver in the double digit growth of earnings of 12% is our mining sector. Our mining sector performed really well. revenue up 3%, profit up 7%," says Gobalsamy.

Despite the positive half-year results, Gobalsamy says there are some areas of the business that had its challenges.

"There are some areas that faced headwinds. If we take it at a broad level, diamonds as an example faced headwinds, with diamond prices being less. But there are areas like uranium that we saw very strong demand for, explosives and chemicals," added Gobalsamy.
