JOHANNESBURG - Nine people have been arrested in Krugersdorp west of Johannesburg following the discovery of a drug manufacturing laboratory.
Members of the serious organised crime unit pounced on the lab on Monday following a tip-off on the operations.
Upon arrival at the factory, authorities found an assortment of methamphetamine producing chemicals in large quantities.
Hawks spokesperson Katlego Magale said the suspects would make their first court appearance on Wednesday in the Krugersdorp Magistrates Court to face charges of manufacturing illicit drugs.
"During the search of the premises, nine suspects, including two females, were apprehended."
The Provincial Head of the Hawks in Gauteng, Major General Ebrahim Kadwa, lauded the sterling work by the team, and encouraged them to aim for the kingpins.
The investigation continues.
