A few days after DJ Sumbody was violently killed, Gauteng cop Sergeant Fannie Nkosi sent a message to his friend, asking why he didn’t call the entertainer to order.

The popular DJ, whose real name is Oupa Sefoka, was killed in a hail of bullets while driving around Sandton in November 2022.

It emerged at the Madlanga Commission that Nkosi may know what led to his death.

Four men are currently standing trial for the murder of DJ Sumbody.

This includes suspected crime cartel boss, Katiso ‘KT’ Molefe.

Nkosi has already been linked to Molefe at the Madlanga Commission.

Last November, the commission played CCTV footage showing Nkosi leaving Molefe’s home with a bag suspected to be stuffed with money.

On Friday, the commission showed a WhatsApp message Nkosi sent to his friend Mpho Lekokela, a few days after DJ Sumbody’s death.

The message is a picture of Lekokela and DJ Sumbody, which is accompanied by a text by Nkosi that reads, ‘Y didn’t u call him to order’

Nkosi, when asked what he meant by the message.

“I don’t know, I can’t remember what this was; why didn’t you call him to order? It was relating to as in when he didn’t respond, I didn’t know, I can’t remember that.”

Matthew Chaskalson, evidence leader: “Sergeant, I can’t accept that answer. I think you do know.”

Nkosi’s answer did not sit well with commission chairperson Mbuyiseli Madlanga, who accused the officer of lying.
