BOKSBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng believes it will win the hotly contested province outright, without a need for a coalition in the upcoming election.
The organisation’s provincial executive committee (PEC) held its lekgotla at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg on Monday.
The two-day event is aimed at outlining the party’s programme of action for the rest of the year and finalise its election strategy.
Since the first general democratic elections in 1994, the ANC has won Gauteng outright.
However, with every election, its majority gets shed, with the party narrowly keeping its majority with a 50.19% victory in 2019.
Despite the declining trend, ANC Gauteng chairperson, Panyaza Lesufi, said the party was confident of keeping its majority.
"Any other political party can claim what they want to claim but it is the ANC that has the capabilities, skills, and the talent… on issues presented to our people."
The main strategy for the ANC this election season is to reflect on the 30 years it’s been in power.
