Two dead, 13 injured in horrific Germiston crash

Two people have been killed and 13 others injured in a taxi crash in Germiston, Ekurhuleni.

Emergency crews responded on Saturday morning and found the driver and a female passenger - dead on the scene.

It's understood the vehicle crashed into a wall at the intersection of the M2 freeway eastbound and Refinery Road.

Five passengers are in a critical condition and are receiving treatment in hospital.

Ekurhuleni EMS spokesperson William Ntladi said “rescue teams had to use specialized hydraulic rescue equipment to access and recover the entrapped driver. The intersection was affected by temporary closure of two lanes due to scene rehabilitation.”
