The city of Tshwane has suspended its Metro Police Department Deputy Commissioner Umashi Dhlamini.
The metro says the decision was taken following a request by Dhlamini, in light of serious allegations levelled against him at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry this week.

Dhlamini, whose suspension came into effect on Friday, 20 March 2026, was responsible for support and administration at the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD).
The metro said the suspension is part of a standard risk-management measure to safeguard the integrity of the investigative process, which is intended to allow for a fair, thorough and uninterrupted investigation into the allegations.
TMPD added that the suspension does not constitute a disciplinary sanction or imply any finding of guilt.
