DURBAN - There is mixed reaction from political parties in KwaZulu-Natal on the arrests linked to the murders of rapper Kiernan Forbes and celebrity chef Tebello Motsoane.

A total of seven arrests have been made in the high-profile case of the pair who were shot and killed in February last year.

Eyewitness News spoke to political parties represented in the provincial legislature on the sideline of the State of the Province Address on Wednesday.

The African National Congress (ANC) said the KZN police and government have been vindicated from the embarrassment of AKA's and Tibz murders.

“You know the death of AKA brought shame to the KZN province. We also thought as much so the arrest shows that we must be critical in dealing with crime and we support what has been done," said ANC KZN chairperson Siboniso Duma.

Action SA provincial chairperson Zwakele Mncwango said police must also deliver the same results in other cases.

“It is good to see progress on such cases, but also we wish police can also prioritise other cases because we don’t believe that one crime is better than the other.”

Other parties represented in the legislature also lauded police for the arrests.

However, Rise Mzansi’s Nonkululeko Hlongwane Mhlongo alleges that the arrests were made up.
