JOHANNESBURG - The City of Ekurhuleni has failed to get a clean audit for the first time in three years.
The troubled metro’s finances are under scrutiny as gaps in its internal controls are laid bare.
The office of the Auditor-General finally tabled the highly anticipated audit report in the Ekurhuleni Council on Tuesday, on the back of several delays.
Ekurhuleni received an unqualified audit with findings for the 2022/23 financial year. Ekurhuleni City Manager Imogen Mashazi said this was a slight regression.
“The report is not bad; it’s a minor regression. In terms of financials, we are good, performance information is green in terms of service delivery standards to our communities. It’s just a mild regression and we are going to work on it.”
