JOHANNESBURG - Controversial media personality Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanyane is back in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The previously convicted musician, who made a brief court appearance in February is facing 13 criminal charges including rape, indecent assault, kidnapping and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He handed himself over to police in July 2023 before his arrest.

The 2023 arrest stems from charges levelled against him by several women, dating back to as early as 2006.

Although he is out on bail, Jub Jub was sworn to strict bail conditions including no communication with victims or complainants.

During his application, his lawyer Terrence Baloyi questioned the strength of the State's case against his client.

The National Prosecuting Authority, however, believes it has a solid case against the musician and media personality despite the difference between the alleged date of the incidents and the reports.

According to the authority, the latest report brought forward against Jub Jub was in February of 2022.
