Sifiso Mkhwanazi found guilty of murder, rape and defeating the ends of justice

A total of 22 charges were brought forward against Mkhwanazi including six of rape, six of murder, six of defeating the ends of justice and one of possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

JOHANNESBURG – Confessed sex worker killer Sifiso Mkhwanazi has been found guilty of rape, murder and defeating the ends of justice.

Judge Cassim Moosa handed down the judgement on Wednesday morning at the Johannesburg High Court sitting in Palm Ridge.

Mkhwanazi was arrested in connection with the deaths of six sex workers whose bodies were found hidden in his father’s panel beating shop in the Johannesburg CBD.

A total of 22 charges were brought forward against Mkhwanazi including six of rape, six of murder, six of defeating the ends of justice and one of possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition. 

 

However, he was acquitted of robbery with aggravated circumstances.

 

Instead, he was charged with a lower charge of theft after he stole a cellphone belonging to one of the victims. 

The case against the 21-year-old relates to crimes committed between April and October of 2022.

He is expected back in court on 8 May.
