DA unveils 11 new faces to represent party at provincial, national level

JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) has unveiled 11 new faces to represent the organisation in the National Assembly and provincial legislatures following this year’s general elections.
The new candidates have undergone a 10 month-long selection process to qualify for seats in Parliament and legislatures.
The party released its list a day before the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) is scheduled to make the list of candidates from all political parties public.
DA Leader, John Steenhuisen said the new members were selected on merit and not political experience.
“This confirms our candidates’ belief and allegiance to the DA as well as the integrity of our people and our processes. I’m very proud and grateful to the retiring members of Parliament and provincial legislatures who have worked tirelessly for interests of all South Africans, and grow the DA across communities over the past decades.”
Community safety activist Ian Cameron, who recently joined the party is one of the 11 new faces that will represent the organisation in Parliament.
He said his experience in public safety would help the party’s battle against crime and gender-based violence.
“I have now decided to step into the area with the DA. We desperately need to scale our onslaught against the viral, cancerous evil infection that the African National Congress (ANC) has infested South Africa with.”
