Record-breaking singer Tyla will come home to fans on Saturday to celebrate her Grammy Award success.

JOHANNESBURG - Grammy Award winner Tyla is set to receive a hero's welcome at OR Tambo International Airport as she returns home on Saturday.

The Water hitmaker returns to home soil for the first time since she claimed victory at the Grammys in February.

The 22-year-old is the first South African solo artist to be part of the US Billboard Top 11 in over 50 years.

The song Water was released in July last year and has made top-10 charts in multiple countries, including the United States and the UK.

When the video was released, it garnered three million views within 72 hours and sparked a social media challenge where multiple celebrities attempted the dance routine.

Tyla won a Grammy for Best African Music Performance, reigning supreme against Burna Boy and Davido.

She recently released an album titled Tyla.

METRO FM MUSIC AWARDS 2024

For the Metro FM Music Awards 2024, Tyla is leading the pack with six nominations forĀ Water.

She is nominated in the following categories: Song of the Year, Best Female Artist, Best Music Video, Best Viral Challenge and Artist of the Year.

The awards ceremony will take place at the Mbombela Stadium, in Mpumalanga, on 27 April 2024 and will be broadcast live on SABC 1.

The songstress was born Tyla Seethal, in Edenvale, Johannesburg, and is the middle child with four other siblings.
