The future of the City of Tshwane’s chief financial officer (CFO), Gareth Mnisi, hangs in the balance as the municipal council meets to consider his possible suspension.
Mnisi has been implicated at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry for allegedly manipulating and rigging tenders.

Mnisi was implicated in the testimony of Sergeant Fannie Nkosi at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Evidence before the commission shows Mnisi and Nkosi allegedly colluded to ensure tenders at the municipality were awarded to their preferred bidders.
Moya said the allegations against Mnisi aren’t being taken lightly.
“In respect of the CFO, a disciplinary report is being tabled before today’s council meeting to initiate a process of his precautionary suspension. Given the central role of his office, the matter is being dealt with in a manner that safeguards the city’s financial systems and maintains public confidence. However, it’s important that we know that Mr Mnisi has been home and hasn’t been to work all week.”
Meanwhile, the city is also questioning Mnisi's unexplained wealth, his undeclared interests and misrepresentations in his CV.
