“This moment happened 14 years ago, and I am being reminded every day. [The World Cup] is a moment that is bigger than me… I am just grateful.”

While he may have been a little quiet in recent years, Tshabalala reaffirms that he has not retired, nor will he be hanging up his boots anytime soon.

On Chiefs' current performance, he says it's 'very painful' to watch from the outside.

“The last time I wore the Chiefs jersey was 2018, but I still feel the pain. When the team suffers I also suffer... [but] I’m just like you, I don’t know [what’s happening].”
Siphiwe Tshabalala, former footballer
“Chiefs has good players… but they don’t have a team. [Players] get lost because there is no structure.”
Siphiwe Tshabalala, former footballer
“The team must also check the calibre of the players that they bring. Not only the talent, but the personality. You are coming into an environment that can be hostile, and an environment that can build you and has a lot of attention, but can you take it?”
Siphiwe Tshabalala, former footballer
