CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Democratic Alliance (DA) Premier candidate Alan Winde says the DA is the only party with a track record and vision to govern effectively and end load shedding.
At a press briefing earlier on Tuesday, Winde unpacked the party's pledge to cut load shedding by four stages in the next five years.
Winde says the DA-led provincial government aims to generate 5,700 megawatts of own energy by 2035.
He says the party is on its way to achieving that goal, with 835 megawatts of solar PV already installed in the Western Cape.
Winde says various other energy generation projects in the pipeline will add an extra 2000 Megawatts.
"So we in this province have this plan to make sure that we are the first province in South Africa to be load shedding free. We will continue with this determination to roll out this plan. So, on the 29th of May let's switch off the lights of the ANC."
