702's Clement Manyathela hosted Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema for a wide-ranging conversation to discuss his party’s standing ahead of the elections, as well as issues revealed by the Ad Hoc Committee and the Madlanga Commission.

On the issue of a summons being issued against National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, Malema says the police must act in all cases of wrongdoing.

"No one should be above the law, irrespective of the position you hold."

Malema agrees that Masemola should be placed on precautionary suspension until the accusations are either proven or disproven.

He also says we should appreciate that these SAPS inquiries are finally revealing the truth about what has been happening in the country.

"I think there was a group of people who thought they were untouchable, people who were doing things as they wish, and they thought they were above the law."

Malema was also not shy to share his negative feelings about Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, in relation to how the KZN Police Commissioner implied a dubious connection between Malema and Major General Feroz Khan.

"He says, 'I met Malema through Khan' – suggesting some impropriety... and he leaves the sentence there. Once you don't tell the full truth, it amounts to a lie.

"He must know, Mkhwanazi, I'm not scared of a policeman... I've never provoked him, I've never said anything, but he must stop dragging my name."

Malema also spoke about potential coalitions in the upcoming local government elections.
