FlySafair competitors Lift, Airlink want it grounded over licence dispute

Lift and Airlink have laid a complaint against FlySafair over a licence dispute.
They claim the low-cost airline contravenes domestic ownership rules, as it does not have 75% South African ownership.

FlySafair, who was found to have contravened this rule a decade ago, resolved the issue by creating a local trust to hold foreign offshore holdings, and it could easily be done again.

Leitch says this could be resolved in a few months, and they have known about this issue for years.
He says they will likely not be grounded but must address the issue or face a fine.
“They will not ground an airline over a technical infringement.”
