10 May 2024 | 10:48We were too excited and couldn't wait - so Mother's Day celebrations are happening already on our side of the world.
It's Mother's Day on Sunday (12 May)!
One thing about Kfm presenters - they live, laugh and have so much love for their moms.
So, to celebrate the powerful, gorgeous, strong matriarchs in their lives, we asked some presenters to share some EXTRA love for their moms by answering one question:
What is your favourite memory with your mom?
This is our favourite part, it's giving... wholesome.
Darren reminisces about how his 'hilarious, naughty and sweet mom' is his biggest fan and sat up until 4 am to listen to his graveyard radio shows when he first started broadcasting 25 years ago...
"So, this is happy Mother's Day to my dear mom who this year turns 84 years old. Now, if there's anyone who has been by my side, it has been my mom. My mom, since the early days of me being on a graveyard shift... I was 15... she was old... she used to sit and knit while listening to me one to four in the morning on a Sunday which is absolute true dedication. So, happy Mother's Day to my absolute number one fan. Love you, Mom!"

Sherlin explains how her 'loving, caring and very supportive' mom taught her to fall and get back up with grace...
"I've got so much love for my mom, we have so many special moments but one that definitely stands out, and we actually have a picture of this moment, is where she hugs me tightly after a ballet concert... and why it stands out is because I actually fell during that show. Now, we prepared for months and months only for me to fall and when I fell, I heard my mom's voice saying, 'When you fall, just get up and, if you can do it with a little bit of grace, do so.' And so that's what I did. I fell, I heard my mom's voice and then I got up and I sashayed away. Happy Mother's Day mooms. Ek is verskriklik lief vir jou. Thank you for everything."

Sibs says her 'protective, loyal and kind' mama protected her since she could remember... in sickness and health...
"One of the memories that stick out in my mind involving my mom and me goes all the way back to 1999 when I was in Grade Five. I was at school and started getting really sick so the principal and the school secretary called my mom to come and pick me up. At the time, my mom didn't have a car and when the school called her, she had to take a minibus taxi to the school to collect me and take me to our family doctor. My mom rushed to the school and together, we got into another minibus taxi that would take us to the area close to where the doctor's offices were. I remember while we were in that taxi, my mom shouted at a very animated gaatjie to close the windows as her child was sick. It was such a chaotic, funny and real moment from my mom as she forgot that we were not in a private vehicle and there were in fact 10 other passengers in the taxi with us. Her motherly instinct was just about protecting me. It's one of my favourite memories of the two of us together because it epitomizes everything my mother is: Strong, protective and unintentionally hilarious. We made it to the doctor, minibus windows closed, thanked the driver and gaatjie for accommodating us and made it to the doctor. It turned out I just had a nasty flu bug. When we got home my mom told me she was starting the process of buying a car. Happy Mother's Day, mama. I love you so so much. You are the best."

Tracey explains that her 'incredibly witty and smart' mom taught her just how valuable a can-do and can't-do attitude can be...
"There are so many memories of my mom but when I think of what has to be one of my absolute favourites, it has to be when I started in radio and started my radio training. I'd come back after every training session and I would tell my mom, 'Oh, I don't think I'll ever be able to do this. Dit gaan nooit gebeur nie mammie, dit gaan nooit nie.' And she would always go, 'Mmm, you are right, if you can't, you can't and if you can, you can. You have to decide.' And she's always been very firm on that it's up to you - if you decide that you can, then you can and if you decide that you can't, then you can't. And that is one of the greatest lessons and one of my best memories. I know I'm not the only one with memories like that but all our moms are so special so a happy, happy Mother's Day to all moms and mother figures out there - we are nothing with out you. [Did you catch that kiss Tracey just blew for you?]

EB remembers a time when his 'strong and selfless' mom always showed up for him...
"If I had to describe my mom in three words, it would be: strong, selfless and love. In fact, I think her love language is acts of service because she goes above and beyond to the point where we're telling her, 'Mom, can you just relax and let us handle some of the stuff'... and then she'll feel guilty for not chipping in... and one story comes to mind when I was much younger, in primary school, we had to do a drawing of an animal and I chose a lion. We started the drawing and then little EB got tired and went to bed. The next morning when the drawing was due at school, my mom had sat up the entire night to finish that drawing and it was absolutely amazing... and I got really high marks for it. So, thanks, mom. Happy Mother's Day... I love you with all my heart."
