Mbeki blames decline in ANC support on service delivery shortfalls

DURBAN - Former African National Congress (ANC) President Thabo Mbeki blamed the decline in party support on poor performance when it came to service delivery.
On Saturday, Mbeki campaigned for the ruling ANC in KwaZulu-Natal ahead of May’s general elections.

From 2019, the party has been seeing a decrease in its support numbers in the region.
Mbeki said this was a clear indication of the electorate’s dissatisfaction.
“It’s got to do with the performance of ANC itself. I think the people are responding to that.”
