JOHANNESBURG - Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen used his final mass address before the polls to highlight the failures of the African National Congress (ANC)to persuade voters to choose his party.

Supporters gathered at the Willowmoore Stadium in Benoni for the opposition party’s closing event on Sunday.

Thousands were bussed in to attend the last leg of the party's campaign before voting this week.

The DA remained true to what many called its election strategy of pointing out the ANC's wrongs to attract voters.

The DA remained true to what many have called its election strategy of pointing out the ANC’s wrongs to attract voters.

In a relatively short final speech before Wednesday’s national and provincial polls, DA leader John Steenhuisen has done just that – recounting the failures of the governing party and promising if voted into power.

"On Wednesday, the ANC will lose the outright majority that it has abused for decades. It will lose the majority that it has used to push this country into unemployment, to commit corruption and misrule and on Wednesday we close the chapter on the ANC rule"

He’s also used creative Nguni phrases to express the party’s views on corruption.

"We don't khuluma, khuluma, khuluma, the Democratic alliance delivers, delivers, delivers."

Steenhuisen sealed his address with the rendition of the national anthem – on a stage lit by fireworks as festivities continued.

Some supporters seem to have completed their work for the day – filing out as soon as Steenhuisen wrapped up.
