DURBAN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in eThekwini has welcomed the redeployment of Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).
Kaunda, who has been mayor since 2019, has been criticised for failing to improve service delivery in the coastal city.
The African National Congress (ANC) said it redeployed him to the NCOP because he had an important role to play there.
DA eThekwini caucus leader Thabani Mthethwa said: "We celebrate this based on the fact that Mayor Kaunda presided over the unprecedented collapse of service delivery and infrastructure in our municipality.”
