POPCRU calls for cop killers to be charged with high treason

CAPE TOWN - In the Western Cape Police union POPCRU (Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union) is calling for suspects who kill police officers to be charged with high treason.
 
This after 30-year-old police officer Akhona Dzingo was gunned down in Site C, Khayelitsha this week.
 
Dzingo is the third police officer to be killed in Khayelitsha while on duty this year with the two other incidents taking place in Mamre and Lingelethu West.

POPCRU provincial secretary, Pat Raolane said that this can't be allowed to continue.
 
"We want those that are in the community policing forum to strengthen their structures - to take their structures very seriously to know that it's us and them as communities who can be able to deal with the scourge of crime."
 
Raolane adds that those who attack police officers attack the state.
 
"There will be serious! Serious! Serious! Consequences because it can't be that the state is attacked no one who proclaims that he's going to, leaders in the mere future or after the 29th and no one is saying anything."
