JOHANNESBURG - Joburg residents are being urged to store water ahead of a month-long maintenance project undertaken by Rand Water.
From Saturday until July 29th, Joburg residents can expect low water pressure due to extensive maintenance on infrastructure.
Speaking during a virtual briefing in Johannesburg on Thursday afternoon, the acting general manager of operations at Joburg Water, Logan Munsamy, stressed that this was not a shutdown.
"A total of 85 water trucks will be deployed to the various areas. These water trucks will not necessarily be stationed in central or the southern regions, they will be moved within the month to various regions as and when required."
He added that 250 Jojo tanks would be set up at certain focus areas.
"The Jojo tanks are green stationary tanks. Some of the key focus areas where we will put these Jojo tanks will be hospitals, clinics and old-age homes. We will focus on schools, police stations, portions of direct-feed areas that may be impacted, especially the high-lying areas."
