ANC-led GNU boasts 10 parties after Al Jama-ah joins political bandwagon

JOHANNESBURG - The Government of National Unity (GNU) now comprises 10 political parties.
The African National Congress (ANC) released a media statement on Saturday, confirming the Al Jama-ah party had signed the GNU statement of intent.
This means the governance pact now represents 70% of the vote in the 2024 elections.
The ANC explained in their statement that the parties had agreed to be bound by the foundational principles outlined in the statement of intent and to work together to pursue its objectives.
The Freedom Front (FF) Plus, the United Democratic Movement (UDM), and RISE Mzansi also recently announced that they had joined the GNU.
The ANC said President Cyril Ramaphosa would announce appointments to the executive for the 7th administration in the coming days.
