Power outage delays court proceedings in case against IEC official charged with contravening Electoral Act

DURBAN - An electricity outage in Pietermaritzburg caused by faulty cables has delayed proceedings at the magistrate's court where Musawenkosi Mnikathi is to appear.
Mnikathi is the IEC official charged with contravening the Electoral Act in KwaZulu-Natal.
The Msunduzi Local Municipality said that both the magistrate's and the high courts were affected.
The municipality's Anele Makhanya said: "The outage is impacting several key locations, including municipal offices, the Premier’s office, City Hall, the magistrate and high court, the library, and surrounding areas. We are working diligently to resolve the issue and restore power as swiftly as possible. Updates on our progress will be provided throughout the day."
