The 75-year-old legend passed away in hospital on Thursday.

Orland Pirates have confirmed the passing of legend Stanley ‘Screamer’ Tshabalala.

The 75-year-old coach was a founding member of Kaizer Chiefs.

He earned the nickname ‘Screamer’ for shouting constantly during his playing days.

Tshabalala coached Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana when South Africa was readmitted into international football.

He spent the past two decades working at Pirates.

The team shared that Tshabalala succumbed to injuries he suffered after being shot in March this year.

“The Tshabalala and Orlando Pirates Family is announcing the sad and untimely passing of Stanley Tshabalala this afternoon (11 July) in hospital.”

South African Football Association President Danny Jordan described Tshabalala as a ‘much-loved former player and coach’.

“This news is such a shock and we as SAFA would like to convey our deepest sympathy and heartfelt sorrow to his family, friends, and the club during this difficult time.”

Tributes continue to pour in for the late football legend.
