Ramaphosa promises to build on capabilities of the Presidency and put it to 'much better effect and use'

23 July 2024 | 14:31President Cyril Ramaphosa was in Parliament again on Tuesday afternoon, this time to debate the budget of the Presidency, which is just under R600 million.
CAPE TOWN - President Cyril Ramaphosa said that the Presidency under the Government of National Unity (GNU) would build on the expertise and experience of the past five years.
As much as this was a time of change, Ramaphosa said that his Presidency intends to continue on the strides made so far to restore the country and the economy.
Ramaphosa was in Parliament again on Tuesday afternoon, this time to debate the budget of the Presidency, which is just under R600 million.

Taking stock of the work of his office, Ramaphosa said that the next five years would both be a time of change and continuity.
He said that the last administration was a time of recovery, renewal and rebuilding, during which time many lessons were learned.
"With relatively limited budgetary resources, we’ve had to build capacity and act with urgency to tackle pressing issues. We now have a much firmer institutional platform on which to build."
Ramaphosa has praised the work done by a number of councils and envoys who worked within the Presidency in the past administration.
"As we enter a new era of inclusive growth and job creation, we will be able to put the capabilities of the Presidency to much better effect and use."
Ramaphosa said that the Presidency would work to ensure more effective coordination and cooperation across various entities and structures of government.
