JOHANNESBURG - Graft-accused former acting Director of Public Prosecutions in Mpumalanga, Matric Luphondo has been axed.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed on Friday that he was dismissed on Tuesday after a disciplinary process found him guilty of offering a bribe to a senior state advocate.
It is believed Luphondo offered the bribe in a bid to get the advocate to withdraw a case involving a government official.
Luphondo is also facing criminal charges linked to the matter and his case is currently before the High Court in Pretoria.
