JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress (ANC) chairperson in Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi, said the party was consulting its national leadership on whether it should go ahead with reclaiming the mayoral chains in Tshwane.
He made the announcement during a media briefing in Johannesburg on Monday, saying the ANC wanted to regain lost ground in the province.
While the ANC's negotiations with other political parties are ongoing, Lesufi said that Luthuli House must first approve his plans to regain power in Tshwane.
"We want to consult our national leadership because there are various dynamics in Tshwane that we have to be sensitive with relationships that have been established with national government as well."
