British rock band The Who, once sang 'The Kids Are Alright', but the song title certainly doesn't ring true for Cape Town learners who have found themselves making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Two schools in the Mother City have been rocked by brutal incidents of bullying, one resulting in two boys being charged with attempted murder.

Recently Cedar High School in Mitchells Plain was the site of a knife attack on two pupils carried out by two classmates who are now facing serious criminal charges.

Elsewhere, a video showing a girl being brutally assaulted by a fellow pupil outside Alexander Sinton High School in Athlone has gone viral on social media.

Le Roux says today's parents have no control over their children.

"We come from an era where there were consequences for children, when these types of behaviours happened. A child should have known their place."

"It is ridiculous the amount of anger these children are fighting with."

But what is more disturbing than the anger, says Le Roux, is the young people who stand and film on their cellphones, while doing nothing to intervene.

"That's the most disturbing, because that is the mentality of our community. Standing around doing absolutely nothing about criminality, about people being assaulted."
Vanessa Le Roux, Founder - PEESA
Learners have no respect for rules and regulations says Le Roux, laying the blame for their antisocial behaviour at the door of 'Mom and Dad.'
Where are the parents, asks Le Roux?
"Where are these parents to take control of their children?"
