Two women have been allegedly murdered in separate incidents in Cape Town just days apart.

Local cricketer Tristan Perez and Mihlali Tuoane are both behind bars after appearing in court this week, each accused of killing their romantic partners.

In the first incident, 24-year-old Perez was arrested for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, 46-year-old Elana Brooke, in Heathfield on 23 March.

Brooke was initially believed to have died by suicide but following further investigation, police upgraded the case to murder.
