JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to sign the Basic Education Laws Amendment Bill (BELA) into law on Friday.
The contentious legislation was introduced with the aim of strengthening governance in the country's education sector.

Among other things, it calls to make Grade R compulsory.
The bill also seeks to address challenges that have affected the education system in relation to infrastructure, administration and misconduct of pupils and teachers.
Ramaphosa is set to sign the document at the Union Buildings.
