Kfm 94.5 technical producer Rameez Khan explains the journey to his first-ever Cape Town Marathon.
It all started with a walk...
"I think I'm a bit crazy to do this for the first time, but it's all about pushing yourself to do better... I started my journey on 2 January 2023. I was 170 kgs at the time and thought I had to turn my life around and I started walking and kept showing up for myself... my very first walk was from Muizenberg Civic Center to St James and back."
- Rameez Khan, Technical producer - Kfm 94.5
"It was that voice in my head that said, 'I can't do this'... I thought I couldn't but I had a coach who said... 'just show up'... and I did..."
- Rameez Khan, Technical producer - Kfm 94.5
"For me it was about using my life at Primedia and Kfm and using the positivity we give to people to myself too."
- Rameez Khan, Technical producer - Kfm 94.5
With a coach, community, and a supportive partner, Khan trained for walks, races and half marathons and will now conquer the Cape Town Marathon.
Khan says he is looking forward to it and is most interested in getting over the halfway mark because part of the hard work is the mental battle.
"The hard work is mental too."

Meanwhile, Monger of The Balance Group explains how runners like Khan can prepare for the marathon.
- Get a sports massage. It's advised that you don't leave it for a day or two before the race.
- Decrease your load to lighten the legs.
Good luck to Khan and all Cape Town Marathon runners!
(To all runners, Khan highly recommends Monger's first point.)
