On Sunday morning, police launched a manhunt for the 33-year-old suspect, who stabbed seven of his family members, killing five of them.

DURBAN - The KwaZulu-Natal man linked to the mass killing of five people in Bergville on Saturday night has now been arrested.

On Sunday morning, police launched a manhunt for the 33-year-old suspect, who stabbed seven of his family members, killing five of them.

Hours after the operation was launched, the suspect was nabbed.

“In an operation led by the station commander, police quickly gathered intelligence and uncovered the whereabouts of the suspect,” said police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda.

He said the suspect will make his first court appearance on Tuesday.

“The suspect is expected to appear in the Bergville Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 15 October 2024, facing five counts of murder and two of attempted murder.”
