CAPE TOWN - With one month to go before the deadline, the Western Cape government is urging residents to ensure the software of their electricity meters are updated.
It says so far, more than 98% of residents in the municipal supply areas are already compliant.
The upgrade deadline is 24 November 2024.
It's reminding residents that failure to comply will result in residents being unable to recharge their electricity meters with new tokens.
Western Cape Finance MEC, Deidre Baartman: "We need to make a final push to ensure that every remaining meter is reset."
Baartman adds that the Western Cape government is hopeful it will reach full compliance before the deadline.
"We therefore ask you to contact your local municipal office or Eskom customer care if you are uncertain about the status of your meter update."
