COGTA department says its prepared for any disaster

JOHANNESBURG - The Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) department says it's all systems go for the summer, reinforcing its readiness for any disaster.
COGTA Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa addressed a media briefing on summer readiness on Monday, and the need to protect South Africans from disasters like floods and fires.
"The administrative and political structures in all provinces have been activated to be operational and ready for any disaster from now throughout the summer season."
He said that early warnings are the best way to minimise the impact of disasters.
"At the core of our preparedness is enhancing the early warning system."
