Firefighters battle blaze on Mitchell’s Pass, outside Ceres

CAPE TOWN - Firefighters are battling a blaze raging on Mitchell’s Pass, outside Ceres.

The Cape Winelands Municipality said the fire was located just above the Tolhuis; however, the pass remained open on Sunday, with traffic moving freely.

Municipality spokesperson Jo-Anne Otto advised motorists to drive with caution in the area.

"The fire is burning into some old veld adjacent to previously burnt wildland. Currently, the wind is gusting from different directions, presenting some challenges."
