IEC urges Thabazimbi residents to vote in upcoming by-elections

JOHANNESBURG - The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has urged the 51,000 registered voters of Thabazimbi to come out and vote for their new government.
In August 2024, the Thabazimbi Municipal Council was dissolved prompting fresh by-elections for all its 24 seats.
Before its dissolution, the municipality had two mayors, two mayoral committees and two sets of officials hired by two coalition groupings claiming to govern the town.

At a media briefing on Thursday, Limpopo electoral officer Nkaro Mateta said the commission was ready to host the elections next Wednesday.
“The IEC is further pleased to announce all contracts and lease agreements for the 57 voting stations have been concluded. Furthermore, we have published the list of the addresses of the 57 voting stations that will be used in these by-elections.”
